May 2004 Flood
De Goey's Nursery and Flowers
We Grow Flowers!
May, 2004.  A month of crazy Essex County weather in which we received record amounts of rainfall within short periods of time.  One such time was through the night on May 21 into May 22.  We received here at De Goey's 4 inches within about a 2-3 hour period.  It devastated quite a few fields in the neighbourhood which were flooded for most of the week.
Concessions were washed over removing some of the asphalt road with the strong current, creating a frenzy for the morning commute.  I have posted some pictures below that I took later in the day when the rain subsided from at the farm here at De Goey's.  You can click on them to enlarge for a better view.
This is our bridge access to the mum field.
Irrigation pond on left, poly houses just above the water level.
Another picture of the bridge washed out.
This is behind our greenhouses looking back towards the end of the property. The entire field is flooded.
Still behind the greenhouses.
The ditch is about 4-5 times wider than normal heading south towards the greenhouses.
Here you can see how deep it is in our field all the way back to the bush.
Our loading dock back-filling via the drain from the ditch.
